Description:
Wrought and seamed creamer; oval, boat-shaped body on a flared footring with wheel turned decoration; convex, foliate engraved band inset between main body and the incurved upper body with a die-rolled decorative band below; raised plain, extended pouring lip, low at the sides and the back; high strap handle tapered toward the base with grooves along the edges; oval reserves surrounded by engraved garlands on both sides of the body; forward reserve engraved, "I C" in script; maker's mark on base.

This creamer was presented to Commodore Isaac Chauncey (1772-1840), who was the commander of naval forces on Lakes Erie and Ontario during the War of 1812 and later was appointed Commandant of the New York Navy Yard (1825-1832).
