Description:
Wood, iron, and brass percussion rifle; French-style conversion to percussion system; brass furniture with engraved floral design on hammer and engraved lines near tail of lockplate; button-head steel ramrod; stamped mark forward of hammer on lockplate; incised letter on right side of buttstock and engraved mark on trigger bow.

Originally manufactured with a flintlock, this sporting rifle was converted to percussion with a French-style alteration, a method which was performed by private contractors during the early 1850's.
