Description:
Presentation sword with curved, single-edged steel blade with broad fuller extending from hilt to within 5 1/2 inches of point and etched designs with gilding and blue enamel covering upper 9 1/2 inches on obverse and reverse; gilded brass hilt with four-sided grip with a mother of pearl plaque applied to obverse and reverse; embossed designs on quillon, rectangular panels and shield-shaped langets below grips, knuckle-bow, and pistol grip pommel; base of pommel with lion(?) mask; gold tassel attached to strip of metallic gold cloth tape tied to knuckle-bow; gilded brass scabbard with two carrying rings and ornate drag with openwork detailing; obverse of scabbard with four oblong panels with arched tops and bottoms, each with dense arrangement of figures and emblems in relief; reverse of scabbard with incised half-circle motifs framing engraved inscription and stamped feather motif on edges.
