The identity of the subject has not been established. A Daniel Sickles, who was a boot and shoemaker at 60 James Street, died on April 6, 1815, at seventy years of age. The 1815-16 New York City Directory shows a Daniel Sickles, a shipmaster, at 56 Beaver Street; and a Daniel Sickles, Jr., of 87 1/2 Division Street.
