The original watercolor portrait of Crockett, probably commissioned by Durand from Anthony Lewis DeRose (1803-1836), is in N-YHS Collection (Gift of John Durand. X.31) and served as the model for the engraving memorializing Crockett's heroic death at the Alamo in 1836.
