Description: 
silver dessert spoon with a downturned fiddle handle with a short midrib on the underside and the engraved initial, "M" in script on the front; pointed oval bowl; maker's marks stamped on the underside of the handle.
Gallery Label: 
This dessert spoon belonged to Emily Jane Beals (1831-1907), who was the daughter of William Beals (1785-1870) and the donor's great-aunt. She recieved this spoon from her aunt Elizabeth Lane Partridge (1755-1809) on the occassion of her marriage to Edward C. Mitchell, January 26, 1854. Emily gave them to Marie Antoinette Baker on the occasion of her marriage to Fellows Davis on October 17, 1871.
