This scene is the 86th Street station of the Harlem River Railroad on Fourth (now Park) Avenue. Horse-drawn ambulances from New York Hospital stand by amid the milling crowd on the street. Rising smoke from the station area in the background suggests a fire in this undated, late nineteenth-century view.
