Description:
Anne Shirley doll with composition reverse socket head, brown wig, blue painted eyes, and closed mouth; composition body with limbs jointed at shoulder and hip; embroidered blue dress with train, thigh-high stockings, and yellow ankle-strap shoes.
Gallery Label:
According to accession records, the donor named this doll "Louise." Christie's appraiser Olivia Bristol says that the dress is homemade (Christie's Appraisals, Inc., Auction Estimates, January 7, 1998).
