Description: 
Doll with composition socket head, blond wig tied in pigtails, brown glass sleeping eyes, open nostrils, and open mouth with molded teeth; composition body with ball and socket joints; white kid leather shoes with ankle straps tied together with red ribbon; collection of child and doll's clothing including white knit undershirt with ribbon tied in bow at neck (machine sewn), blue flowered smock with red bands at neck and cuffs (hand sewn), red frock with white polka dots, with white rounded collar and cuffs (machine sewn), blue and white polka dotted short knickers (hand sewn), blue and white polka dotted frock with white collar (hand sewn), blue dress with red, purple, green, and white floral decoration, made with white collar chain-stitched in red and blue zipper down front (hand sewn), cream-colored knickers with embroidery (machine sewn), lace-trimmed knickers (machine sewn), and two pairs of socks, pink and white; pair of pink cloth shoes with buttons.
Gallery Label: 
According to accession records, this doll was named "Florence." A handwritten note reads "These two frocks/were made by Mela/when she was 7 years old./She used to send for patterns/out of the World Telegram". It seems likely that this collection of clothing was assembled for the doll by the child owner.
