Description:
Dress hat with white cotton crown with flat, circular top and visor with oak leaf sprays embroidered in heavy gold metallic thread on black felt ground; gilded metal insignia consisting of shield-breasted eagle surmounted by a banner and a disk with thirteen stars; chin strap of gold metallic cloth tape with leather backing secured at either side by a button with similar insignia.

According to the accession records, the donor's husband, Colonel George C. Haas (1888-1963), wore this hat as a member of the Military Police during World War II. Other uniform parts and accessories worn by Haas in World War I and World War II are also in the N-YHS Collection.
