Description:
Dress hat with blue wool crown with flat, circular top, red ribbon band trimmed with gold metallic cloth tape, and black felt-covered visor with oak leaf sprays embroidered in heavy gold metallic thread; gilded metal insignia consisting of shield-breasted eagle surmounted by a banner and starburst; chin strap of gold metallic cloth tape with leather backing secured at either side by a button embossed with similar insignia.

According to the accession records, this dress hat was worn by the donor's husband, Colonel George C. Haas (1888-1963). A number of other uniform parts and accessories belonging to Haas are also in the N-YHS Collection.
