Description:
Black wool dress trousers with 1 1/2" white stripe down the side of each leg; 5 button fly, top 2 buttons fasten to the interior; 6 buttons around the waistband; right side horizontal slit watch pocket beneath the waistband, vertical slit pockets behind the stripes; 2 straps at the back beneath waistband, straps buckle at the center to rectangular metal buckle with double-tongued chape; waist area lined with white silk with blue pin stripes, as well as some cotton, pockets lined with white silk; all buttons are metal, unmarked.

These dress trousers were worn by Noah Bruford when he was a color sergeant for the New York National Guard, 71st Infantry, in 1898.
