Description: 
Pair of private's epaulets; rigid, dark blue felt-covered strap with gilded metal button with an eagle above a shield and inscription, "EXCELSIOR / N.Y.S.A. / NATIONAL GUARD," in relief; crescent in the form of a dark blue textile roll with regular pattern of ridges and white braid trim; white cotton fringe; elongated metal hook for fastening.
