Description: 
Pair of New York National Guard Veteran Corps Artillery epaulets; gilt cord shoulder knots which fasten at the collar end, shoulder end has "V / N G" embroidered in metal thread against red wool felt ground; reverse is lined with red wool felt, with hinged metal fastener the length of the knots.
Gallery Label: 
These Veteran Corps epaulettes are part of a uniform worn by Ernest Louis Walz (1836-1918), who served in the 8th Company, 7th Regiment, New York State militia during the Civil War. The Society also owns the accompanying pieces of this uniform, including the sword and scabbard.
