Description:
Pair of paymaster general's epaulets; rigid, gold lace-covered strap with gilded metal button embossed with shield-breasted eagle; gilded brass crescent surrounding silver embroidered star; two layers of gold bullion fringe, the outermost measuring approximately 3 1/2 inches in length and 1/2 inch in diameter; padded red velvet lining and brass strap fastener; in oval storage box made of tin with copper-colored varnish, with hinged lid and wire handle; oval interior compartment, also with hinged lid, contains gold shoulder cord with slide and large acorn tip; oval brown velvet pad sized to fit on top of interior lid.
