Pair of officer's epaulets; rigid, gold lace-covered strap with a gilded metal button embossed with shield-breasted eagle, the shield bearing the initial "A"; gilded brass crescent surrounding circular patch with gold embroidered border and "2" embroidered in gold on red wool ground; two layers of gold bullion fringe, the outermost measuring approximately 3 1/2 inches in length and 1/2 inch in diameter; padded red velvet lining and brass channel fastener with spring mounted hook; in black painted metal storage box with rounded ends and incurving sides, and hinged lid with flat top and small wire handle; box has interior compartment, also with hinged lid, containing thirty-two uniform buttons (INV.8283a-ff).
