Description:
Fan with shaped ivory guards and sticks with gold and silver painted openwork decoration, and paper leaf with color-printed scenes with hand-painted highlights on obverse and reverse; obverse with multiple figures, including adults and children, in desert landscape, with decorative framing motif stamped in gold on either side; reverse with large group of allegorical female figures representing arts and sciences, with two cupids with cornucopias within the group; metal rivet with mother of pearl buttons.
