Description:
Gray wool National Guard private's single-breasted fatigue coat, with 1 1/2" closed stand-up collar (2 sets of hooks and eyes) with fabric lacing trim and a button near each shoulder, with 9 buttons (7 extant) up the front, dark gray cloth tabs across shoulders, with 3 buttons at each sleeve wrist, lined with white cotton twill fabric, one pocket on left side, 4 buttons around the waistline; button fly trousers with adjustable waistline with buckle at the center back, dark gray stripe down the outside of each leg, with top slit pockets.

This fatigue coat was worn by Henry Pearl Talmadge during his service in Company K, 7th Regiment, New York National Guard, from 1870-1877.
