Description:
Baleen fish line reel composed of central metal rod bisecting two arms; arms connected by cross pieces on each side of reel; handle composed of one side of wood and one side of whale bone, nailed together.
Gallery Label:
This fishline reel, along with a knife and tray, was made by sailors on a Norwegian whaling ship during a whaling voyage to the Ross Sea in the Antartic Ocean.
