Description:
Silk U.S. Regimental Flag of the Highlanders New York Volunteers 79th Regiment on national colors; thirty-eight white stars sewn onto the blue canton (three rows of eight stars interspaced with three rows of seven); thirteen red and white stripes with the gold painted inscription, "VETRANS/ 79th. REGIMENT/ HIGHLANDERS, NEW YORK VOL'S"; gold silk fringe trim around all four edges; red ribbons along the length of the hoist.
