Silk printed Red Cross flag of England; white silk ground with a red cross; nailed to a black wood flagstaff with a gold painted finial.
Gallery Label:
Sebastian Cabot landed at Labrador in 1497. He planted the first flag on American soil, the Red Cross of England, the ensign of King Henry VII.
