Description: 
Brown painted wooden flagpole mounted on crossed boards, and with wooden disk at top.
Gallery Label: 
According to the accession records, this flagpole came from Fort Sumter. At first, it flew a Union flag, but when the fort was taken by the Confederates, they raised their flag on the pole. Finally, after the Confederate defeat, the American flag returned.
