Description:
Fan with tortoise shell guards (with nubs), pierced tortoise shell ribs, black lace leaf with sheer white linen lining, and tortoise shell handle with black cord attached to braided ring closure; in rectangular cardboard box covered and lined with black textile.

According to the accession records, this fan belonged to Mrs. Montague M. Hendricks (Rachel Nathan Hendricks, 1815-1885).
