Description:
Maple trying plane composed of a rectangular stock perforated by a central slit through which a double blade is inserted at a downward angle and tightened with a wooden wedge; a curved handle is inserted into the fore end of the stock.

According to the donor, the plane was made by the donor's grandfather, John jacob Winters (1823-1907), from a sugar maple tree on his father's farm in Campaugh, N.J.
