Description:
Dark blue wool infantry double-breasted frock coat with 2" closed stand-up collar (2 sets hooks and eyes) with gilt lacing around outer edges against light blue ground; attachments for epaulettes at the shoulders; 9 buttons down each side of the front, buttons cast with seal of the U.S.; closed sleeves (no cuffs) have gilt lacing band around the wrists with General officer's sleeve knots above, crossed rifle insignia with "26" above in trefoil of right sleeve knot; 4 panels across the back of the bodice with 2 buttons near the center of the waistline, a button at the bottom of each side of split skirt; coat lined with dark green silk, with vertical slit pockets at each breast, sleeves lined with white silk.
