Description: 
Leather, brass, and iron gaiters; stitched leather leggings with lacing on right side that loops through brass holes at left, and leather strap at top with tip on right that fastens to iron buckle at left.

According to accession records, these gaiters were part of a uniform worn by the donor's father, Private Walter F. Davis of the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Duryea's Zouaves), during the Civil War.
