Description:
"The Game of Mail, Express or Accommodation" board game in a paper covered cardboard box with a flap on the right side to hold the playing pieces; chromolithographed board applied across the bottom half of the box; box cover lithographed with an illustration of a speeding train and a signal; cover inscribed, "Game of/ MAIL, EXPRESS/ OR ACCOMMODATION/ MADE IN U.S.A./ MILTON BRADLEY CO., SPRINGFIELD, MASS. U.S.A."; board chromolithographed with a map of the United States; thirty-five train and mail cards, two cardboard spinners with metal arrows and four wooden playing pieces; directions printed on the underside of the box cover.
Gallery Label:
After Milton Bradley acquired McLoughlin Brothers in 1920, the firm reproduced a few McLoughlin games under its own label. The Game of Mail, Express or Accommodation, originally copyrighted by McLoughlin Brothers in 1895, was updated with a new box cover featuring bold, streamlined design more likely to appeal to modern consumers.
