Bronze struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of George Washington facing right with legend: "GEORGIO WASHINGTON SVPREMO DVCI EXERCITVVM ADSERTORI LIBERTATIS"; inscription below exergual line: "COMITIA AMERICANA." Reverse shows Washington and his staff, on horseback, watching the British evacuation of Boston and the entrance of the American forces: "HOSTIBUS PRIMO FUGATIS"; legend below exergual line: "BOSTONIUM RECUPERATUM/XVII. MARTII/MDCCLXXVI."
