Description:
Light blue wool enlisted man's greatcoat with closed double collar and cape; 2 buttons at the collar, 5 buttons down the front of the cape, and 7 buttons down the front of the coat; closed sleeves with chevron-shaped false cuffs, 1 button at each wrist; cape buttons to the bodice at the back, bottom center, 2 buttons near the center of the waistline, split skirt with a vertical slit "EXCELSIOR / NATIONAL GUARD" surrounding an eagle with a shield in its beak flying above a banner; bodice lined with red twill-weave wool, sleeves lined with white cotton, tail pockets lined with white twill-weave cotton.
