Description: 
Curved brass hat plates; each in the shape of an eagle perched atop a shield, with inscription inside scroll at shield bottom; inside shield is coat of arms with shining sun on left side, and stars and stripes on right; tin numbers affixed to front of two plates; plates soldered with lead on back.

These plates were part of uniform hats worn by members of New York State Militia regiments, probably during the Civil War period.
