Description:
Red painted steel helmet with red, white, and blue insignia on front consisting of "CDC" and a star inside a triangle inscribed in a circle with "NYC" below; chin strap and head bracing made of gray cotton webbing.

According to the accession records, helmets like this one were issued by the Office of Civilian Defense to members of the New York City Auxiliary Fire Department during World War II.
