These insignia were inside a box sent by the William H. Horstmann Co. to Joseph H. Bradley, a Civil War veteran who was living at the National Soldiers Home in Virginia. Bradley had served as a lieutenant of the 5th New York Cavalry Regiment, and a chaplain of the 10th New York Cavalry.
