Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting image of bull standing upon rock with legend above: "INTERNATIONAL LIVE STOCK EXPOSITION/TWENTY FIFTH ANNIVERSARY"; inscription upon shield: "CHICAGO/1924." Reverse depicts blank space for engraving at center with stack of wheat and plough below; legend above: "PRESENTED TO"; inscription below: "BY THE/VNITED STATES/DEPARTMENT OF AGRICVLTVRE."

Elihu Root (1845-1937) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1912. He served as Secretary of War under McKinley and Roosevelt (1899-1903) and as Secretary of State under Roosevelt (1905-1909). From 1909- 1915 he was a Republican Senator from New York.
