Bronze struck medal with obverse showing two seated female allegorical figures holding the British flag and flag inscribed: "EUROPE/ASIA/AFRICA/AMERICA/AUSTRALIA," surrounded by symbols of trade, commerce, and art. Reverse shows the Crystal Palace at center with legend above: "INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION" and inscription in exergue: "OPENED MAY 1st/MDCCCLXII."
