Gallery Label:
The subject's original name was James Frederick Dyckman Smith. When, as the principal heir, he inherited the Dyckman lands and estate of his uncle Isaac Dyckman (1794-1868), he took the name Isaac Michael Dyckman. This miniature was a gift to the Society from his granddaughter.
