Description:
Portrait: Second cousin to the artist's wives, Jane and Ann Van Vleck. Previously, mistakenly identified as the artist's brother-in-law, but Jane and Ann had only one brother, Henry.
Gallery Label:
Van Vleck was the brother-in-law of the artist Alexander Anderson and the brother of Ann and Jane Van Vleck, Anderson's first and second wives.
