Description:
Navy blue single-breasted women's U.S. Coast Guard Reserve jacket made of synthetic fabric; double collar with shallow lapels, each corner of collar has gold-colored metal insignia, with 2 crossed anchors and a shield at the center surrounded with "SEMPER PARATIS"; a false pocket on each side beneath lapels; 4 buttons down the front, buttons cast with an eagle clutching an anchor above 3 cannnon balls; closed sleeves (no cuffs), shoulder patch on left should with an eagle above 2 crossed skeleton keys, shield insignia patch on right wrist; 3 panels on the back; inside lined with dark blue silk, a horizontal slit pocket on each side.

This jacket is part of a uniform worn by Alice Johnson while she served as a "Spar" with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. A "Spar" was a member of the women's reserve of the U.S. Coast Guard, and stands for their slogan, "Semper Paratis, Always Ready."
