Description:
Dark blue wool Zouave jacket; no collar, jacket closed at the throat with hook and eye, front sides recede and curve at the bottom; closed sleeves (no cuffs); 2 panels at the back; inside lined with white linen.
Gallery Label:
This jacket is part of a Zouave uniform worn by David P. Davis during the Civil War. He served with the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry, commonly called "Duryee's Zouaves." Davis served in the Peninsula Campaign under McClellan, the second Battle of Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.
