Description:
Dark blue wool lieutenants single-breasted shell jacket; 1 1/4" open double collar with lieutenant's bars at the corners; 9 buttons down the front, horizontal slit pocket on right side, bottom; closed sleeves (no cuffs) with 3 buttons at the wrists; all buttons cast with shield-breasted eagle with "I" at the center; back in 4 panels, with 2 lozenge-shaped beads near the center at the bottom; breast and sides lined with green silk, sleeves lined with white silk, breast lightly padded and quilted, left horizontal slit pocket.

This jacket is part of a uniform worn by First Lieutenant Abram P. Haring, who served in the Civil War with Company G, 132nd New York Volunteers, from 1862-1865.
