Gallery Label:
The subject, a native of Germany, was the founder of the commercial house of Zimmerman, Frazier and Co. of Buenos Aires, where he resided for some time. He was a life member of the American Geographical and Statistical Society of New York from its founding in 1852. He served as its third vice-president from 1852 to 1854. His portrait was a gift to the Society from his granddaughter.
