Salt-glazed stoneware jug with impressed maker's mark and decorated with a cobalt-blue flower.
Gallery Label:
The Hudson River town of Athens exerted tremendous influence over stoneware production in New York. Nathan Clark and his family, in business for nearly a century, trained numerous apprentices, who subsequently opened new potteries throughout the state.
