This kepi (cap) was worn by Lt. Colonel Noah L. Farnham of the First New York Fire Zouaves (11th N.Y.S.V.), who was mortally wounded at the Battle of Bull Run on July 21, 1861. Farnham was formerly in Company B of the 7th Regiment, New York State Militia. Members of the 7th Regiment attended Farnham's funeral at Christ Church on August 17, 1861. The Historical Society also has Farnham's Zouave cap (1951.485), red sash (1951.486b), and spurs (1951.486cd).
