Description:
Copperplate-printed cotton campaign kerchief; center depicts the planting of the flag at Palo Alto, flag with soldier against blue background; paisley border includes portraits of General Zachary Taylor at bottom center, and C.A. May, General Wool, General Scott, and General Patterson in the four corners; printed in sepia, brown, and blue on a white ground.

This kerchief was probably made for the 1848 presidential campaign of Zachary Taylor.
