Knife with wide, single-edged steel blade with convex profile and curved handle with lower end made of ivory and upper end sheathed in brass.

A bolo is a long heavy single-edged knife of Philippine origin. According to the accession records, this example was acquired by the donor's husband, Colonel James Guthrie Harbord (1866-1947), while serving as Assistant Chief of Philippines Constabulary, U. S. Army, from 1903 to 1914.
