Description:
Tin campaign torch with rectangular reservoir sandwiched between two cut-out sheets that are shaped to resemble an axe head; cylindrical wick holder projects from top of reservoir.
Gallery Label:
According to the accession records, this torch was used during one of Abraham Lincoln's presidential campaigns (1860 or 1864). It was most likely mounted on a pole and carried in a parade or procession.
