Description: 
Tin candle lantern with handle made of circular band of sheet metal attached to pyramidal top with star-shaped and triangular ventilation holes; square frame with fixed rectangular glass panels on three sides and hinged door on fourth side encircled by wire cage; diamond shaped holes pierced around base on three sides; removable sheet metal candleholder in the form of a truncated pyramid with circular hole in top.

According to the accession records, this lantern was once part of the collection of George W. Nash. Similar lanterns were used by firefighters; however, this one has no markings that clearly identify it with firefighting.
