Description:
Iron unloader's hook with U-shaped end terminating in a point; wooden handle; owner's name scratched into handle.
Gallery Label:
This unloader's hook was used by a Dominick, a laborer at Fulton Fish Market. The donor, a photographer, documented New York City's waterfront and came to know many of the workers. Many of her photographs of the workers show them with similar hooks worn over their shoulder, as a kind of professional trademark.
