Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting allegorical female figure of Liberty in Phrygian cap draping herself and a young semi-nude female representing France in American flag; legend: ".VNIVERSAL.EXPOSITION.SAINT.LOVIS.VNITED.STATES.OF.AMERICA."; date in exergue: ".MCMIV." Reverse depicts a raised tablet at center decorated with shell and inscribed: ".BRONZE.MEDAL./.LOVISIANA.PVRCHASE./.EXPOSITION.", surmounted by American eagle and flanked by two dolphins beneath. Medal inset into square fitted red cardboard case with red silk velvet interior.
