Silver struck medal, with obverse showing uniformed bust of Andrew Jackson facing right, with legend: "MAJOR GENERAL ANDREW JACKSON." Reverse shows two female allegorical figures: Fame writing "Peace" on tablet and holding laurel wreath, and Peace with olive tree branch, halting her; legend: "RESOLUTION OF CONGRESS FEBRUARY 27. 1815."; inscription in ex.: "BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS/JANUARY 8. 1815."
