Description:
Silver-plated bronze struck medal with obverse showing uniformed bust of Edmund Gaines facing right with legend: "MAJOR GENERAL EDMUND P. GAINES." Reverse depicts winged allegorical female figure of Victory crowning trophies of war labelled "ERIE" on upright cannon at center; legend above: "RESOLUTION OF CONGRESS NOVEMBER 8. 1814."; inscription in exergue: "BATTLE OF ERIE/AUG.15.1814." Medal is set into black rectangular fitted leather case with black silk velvet and cream ribbed silk interior.
